Web Printing
In 1987, Hennegan fired up its first web press, a 6-color Baker Perkins full size press with a vast number of folding options. From this successful beginning, a first-class web operation was born.
In 1991, a second Baker Perkins 6-color press made its appearance alongside the first. Soon, 2-sided spot UV was added. And then, more folding configurations came. In 1999, Graphic MicroSystems' Microcolor II ink fountains, CIP3 preset interfaces and Color Quick, an automatic closed loop color control system were added. Essentially, this helps to bring the presses up to color quickly and keeps approved run densities within a tight range throughout the run.
In early 2002, Hennegan introduced its third web, an 8 color Heidelberg Sunday Web Press, with a wide variety of folding options. The 8 color Heidelberg is equipped with the GMI closed loop inking system, an Ecocool oven and chill system that helps to reduce waffling. It can also produce an 11.25" book.
The success of our web operation is a study in how Hennegan stays atop the ever shrinking heap of independent fine commercial printers. A real studied and careful pursuit of cutting edge technologies brings benefits not just to us, but to our valued customers.
